Job Summary: Determines best course of action consistent with Rural/Metro collection standards to increase collection of payments from customers. Conducts collection efforts politely and diplomatically but with persistence and patience. Demonstrates proficiency in effectively utilizing available collection tools so to impact department goals. Essential Functions: Technical Expertise * Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and utilization of: CRS, Predictive Dialer, SOS and Credit Card/ACH functions. Collection Knowledge * Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Federal and State collection guidelines and regulations. * Maintains understanding of company and department policies and procedures. Customer Service * Displays sincere and conscientious effort to satisfy the needs of both internal and external customers. * Customers are spoken to in a professional and respectful manner. * Maintains a strong track record for not generating complaints. Account Documentation * Consistent documentation relating to collection activity and customer conversations. * Notes and clear concise and easily understood. Talk-Off Effectiveness * Utilizes collection talk-off techniques in a manner consistent with department guidelines. * Tone is professional and business like. Collection Goals * Consistently meets or exceeds collections goals. Unit Management * Consistently maintains unit. ie: Follow up, broken promises and new accounts. * Correctly moves account within CRS. Attendance * Strong track record with regard to meeting schedule requirements. Training * Participate in training programs as required. * Attends communications meetings Additional Duties: * All duties as assigned or administered. Qualifications: * Ability to read, write and speak English in an easily understood manner. * Assess customer’s ability to pay in a reasonable manner. Provide deadlines and payment instructions. * Provides professional customer service, taking appropriate actions to avoid / resolve complaints. * Coordinates collection efforts as directed by Management to achieve department objectives and goals. * Maintains knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations as well as company collection and policy procedures. Education Requirements: * High School diploma or GED. Physical Requirements: * Requires long periods of sitting at a computer workstation. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds when needed and move object/materials to locations that may be up to 20 feet away. Equipment Operated: * General office equipment Working Conditions: * Work performed in an office environment.
