Responsibilities This will be our ninth year for the program and we expect to again receive a tremendous response, said Kathy Young, MS, FACHE, president of St.Joseph Hospital. The feedback we received about our program from past students, their parents and hospital mentors has been consistently positive. We are very excited to once again offer health care-minded students the opportunity to obtain real-life working experience in a hospital setting. Qualifications For students who are looking for a paid internship for the summer of 2014 there is good news: Kokomo-based St.Joseph Hospital is accepting applications for up to 10 highly coveted paid internships. To be eligible for consideration, students must be a resident of Howard County or one of the surrounding counties and be currently enrolled as a sophomore in an associate-, bachelor- , master- or doctorate-level health care program at the time of application. Areas of study may include medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and medical technology. Nursing students must have successfully completed at least one-year of clinical rotation before applying. Selected applicants will be required to work a total of 400 hours between May and August of 2014. Interested students must submit all of the following in order to be considered: A St.Joseph Hospital employment application, available online at; jobs.stvincent.org. (click on St.Joseph Hospital to locate the job) A current official college transcript Three letters of recommendation from current or previous employers or academic instructors A 300-word essay clearly specifying the student's career objective, the reason(s) for his or her academic/career choice, planned graduation date and desired learning objectives of the summer internship experience. Essays must be typed. The student is responsible for verifying that St.Joseph Hospital has received all materials and recommendations. All requested documents and materials must be postmarked by midnight March 6, 2014 or hand-delivered to the Human Resource Department by 4:00 p.m. on March 6, 2014 to be considered for the program. Students selected for further consideration will be contacted for an interview by phone or in person.
