The Manufacturing Process Technology Group oversees worldwide our high volume manufacturing processes for a variety of high cavitation, molded diagnostic devices. This team has specific expertise in plastics molding of disposable products, packaging and equipment development for products that are manufactured in hi volume (billions!) annually. As a member of this team you will gain a variety of experience and broad knowledge in many areas of medical device manufacturing from the Corporate level. While developing your skills, you will also be positioning yourself for promotional opportunities at BD. Our Engineer I – Packaging/Molding professional will report to the Engineering Manager for Packaging and be responsible for developing packaging processes, equipment technology, and materials for new and existing Medical products and devices. You will also support new product introductions from concept, to prototype and through to the commercialization of new packaging. Additionally, you’ll support improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with a focus on cost effectiveness and will work closely with R&D; and manufacturing plants to implement Packaging improvements. As you develop in this position, you will also assume a supporting role, with a potential transition to a lead role, in executing disposable medical product centered projects for the Molding Manufacturing Process Technology organization. Here you will develop molded part design expertise and provide support for teams that require completion of molding activities. Project work will include injection molding tool and machine development starting at the concept stage and extending to full commercialization. You’ll gain experience in equipment specification, managing project timelines & budgets, and minimizing project and molded part risks. And you’ll also interface with R&D;, Marketing, Design, Quality, and Manufacturing in the execution of project goals. There will be occasional travel to manage these project activities.
