(USA-OR-Portland) Network Support Technician
Description: Job Title: Network Support Technician Job ID: Location: Portland, OR Job Description: Harris IT is looking for a Network Support Technician in Portland, OR to monitor and respond to hardware and software problems utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques. · Directs the installation of networking equipment and associated hardware. · Provides primary interface with contractor support service groups and provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. · Requires extensive knowledge of PC/network communications hardware/software in a multi-protocol environment, data scopes, patch panels, modems, concentrators, and associated terminals and network management software. · Performs as the first line of defense to take appropriate action toward resolving network problems as they appear. · Detects, analyzes, and resolves network switching and transmission system problems while minimizing impact on customer service. · Differentiates between primary and secondary network failures. · Based on the severity or type of event, determines what additional resources are required. · Issues service interruption reports to requisite government agencies. · Functions as lead job providing guidance and training for less experienced technicians. Qualifications: •High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years experience. •Security+ or higher level 8570 IAT Level II certification Preferred Additional Skills: •Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers •Proficient in network monitoring/management systems familiarity. •Strong leadership and interpersonal skills •Solid written and verbal communication skills •Experience with application of DoD IAVAs and STIGs •Strong investigative drive •Self-motivated individuals •Strong listening skills •The ability to work under pressure and be flexible with their time •Ability to work autonomously, self-starter •Able to think outside the box and make decisions quickly •Ability to prioritize and document tasks is a plus.
