(USA-UT-SALT LAKE CITY) Director IT
The University of Utah is seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial Director to lead its Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC). CHPC is a unit of University Information Technology (UIT) with cross-reporting and significant funding through the Office of the Vice President for Research. CHPC is a long-standing research support unit of the University that offers high performance computing, research data storage and analytics (including provision for protected data), natural language processing (NLP), and other research collaboration services to the faculty, students, and other researchers at the University and their collaborators. CHPC has access to significant dedicated space and electric power (over 1.1 Megawatts) in the UIT Downtown Data Center (DDC). CHPC collaborates closely with the Utah Education Network (UEN), which operates a modern optical network connecting the campus to the DDC and national networks such as the Internet2 Network and NOAAE€™s N-Wave. CHPC is an active participant within the emerging Condo of Condos national consortium, XSEDE Campus Champions, CASC, Internet2, GENI, Utah EPSCoR, the Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium, and the annual SCxy conference. Of note, SC16 is expected to return to Salt Lake City in November 2016.
