A retail buyer/Sr. Merchandiser/Planner is responsible for planning and selecting a range of products to sell in retail outlets. She/he coordinates, executes and manages the activities of a buying department, classification of key programs, depending on scope and complexity, and assists the Retail Merchandising Manager in developing, executing & communicating a product strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals.
Job responsibilities

1. Analysing consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends
2. Regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels
3. Managing plans for stock levels
4. Reacting to changes in demand and logistics
5. Liaising with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completed
6. Participating in promotional activities
7. Writing reports and forecasting sales levels
8. Liaising with shop personnel to ensure supply meets demand
9. Getting feedback from customers
10. Training and mentoring junior staff.
