(USA-OH-Centerville) Operations Supervisor
Department:Operations Job Title:Operations Supervisor SALARY GRADE:30300 FLSA Status:Exempt Effective Date:April 2012 General Summary: Supervise all designated personnel for his/her assigned shift to assure compliances with all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include supervisory decisions, when applicable, to guarantee harmonious working relations between company and all municipal agencies and medical facilities, accident and incident investigations and issuing employee corrective actions. Primary Responsibilities and Duties: * Maintain harmonious relationships with all customers of company, including local municipalities, hospitals, extended care facilities, dialysis treatment centers, and the general public. * Relay necessary vehicle and personnel updates to managers and dispatchers, both at scheduled meetings and on a need to know basis. * Complete all reports and logs, including but not limited to, schedule, deployment log, vehicle status log, station/vehicle inspection logs, equipment tracking log, merit reviews, complaint investigations, merit / demerit forms. * Carry out maintenance and monitoring of performance evaluation system based on the established criteria, ensuring that performance standards are maintained and reported to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. * Investigate accidents and incidents and completion of written reports, in a timely manner. * Conduct thorough investigations involving corrective action (discipline) problems with company personnel and administer corrective action, consistent with company policies and procedures in a timely manner. * Perform daily vehicle, station and uniform inspection and document daily. * Maintain open communications with the Director of Operations and report the status of operations (i.e., number of prescheduled service request, number of vehicles, both in and out of service, number of ALS/BLS/MICU/CCU units, number pf personnel tardy and absent, and potential operational problems) on a daily basis. * Evaluate assigned employees based on the current performance evaluation system. * Work as an EMT-B/EMT-I/EMT-A/ or NEV/Lab Courier as necessary. * When necessary, assist in the delivery of supplies to company crews and retrieval of supplies and or paperwork. * Assist in orientation of new employees and remediation of existing employees, when necessary. * Supervise the shift change to assure there are appropriate levels of staffing, vehicles, are inspected, stocked, cleaned and in service in a timely manner. * Continuously monitor radio traffic in order to ensure smooth operations and take appropriate, timely action when aberrations from Policy/Procedures occur or customer service is threatened. * Assist the dispatcher as a dispatch aid in order to ensure smooth operations. * Work with marketing personnel to handle customer complaints and follow-up with a written disposition/investigation in a timely manner. * Ensure positive community relations through frequent visits to municipalities, hospitals, extended care facilities dialysis treatment centers and the general public. * Efficiently complete proper analysis to match fleet deployment with daily volume. * Maintain confidentiality of employee, corporate, and patient records and information. * Abide by company current Bloodborne pathogen plan. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment. * Complete other assignments as required by the Director of Operations or Executive Directors of CEMS. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required: * Minimum Education:Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Where applicable and as required must maintain Continuing Education per the local Medical Control Authorities and the Department of Public Services. * Minimum Work Experience:Two years of experience as a professionally licensed Emergency Medical Technician. * Contact With Others:Co-workers, clients, patients and families, medical personnel. Must be able to write, read and speak English fluently. The job involves regular contact with department managers, corporate departments, vendors and clients and requires socially perceptive skills in order to communicate effectively with a customer service approach. * Analytical Demands:Requires the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments and to use judgment to change priorities given work demands. Must be able to interpret department policies and procedures as well as the ability to think and act calmly and quickly in emergency situations. * Certification, Licensure, Registration:Licensed as an EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-A by the state Department of Public Safety and maintained in good standing. Must possess a current American Heart Association CPR certification and maintain in good standing. EMT-A employees must also posses a current American Heart Association ACLS certification, maintained in good standing. Must possess a valid Driver's License in the state of employment, and be eligible for driving privileges based on current HealthLink policies and procedures. Working Conditions: * Physical Effort: Majority of work performed while sitting, with intermittent standing or walking. Normal amount of physical effort, with some light to moderate lifting required. Occasional physical demands including lifting, climbing, pushing, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching, and otherwise maneuvering heavy patients, with stretchers and equipment (at least 250 pounds). Must pass an employment lift test. * Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, heat, dust, etc. Occasionally works outdoors, in weather common to the region, on a regular basis. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. * Equipment Used: Computer, printer, telephone, copier, calculator, typewriter, and fax machine.
