UNIX Systems Engineer – Enterprise Server Platforms **_Team Overview_** CME Group’s Enterprise Server Platforms (ESP) team is looking for a Systems Engineer to improve the design and support of our Unix/Linux and Windows server infrastructure, with an emphasis on virtualization expertise. The environment is large and challenging to grasp, and will require someone with strong technical skills who can plan and execute well, in close collaboration with peers. **_Key Responsibilities_** * Responsible for managing the server fleet, which will include; * Installing patches * Installing device drivers * Installing third party software and configuring network interfaces * Performing hardware troubleshooting, managing spare part inventory, ticket management and schedules hardware repairs / service calls * Responsible for hardware inventory, database inventory updates, hardware migrations and removal of end-of-life hardware * Responsible for the configuration, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of Unix systems – including web services, FTP services, E-Mail, and DNS * Coordinates Production environment changes with the Technology Operations Command Center (TOCC) in order to maintain a stable production environment **_Essential Criteria_** * In-depth operating system knowledge in Linux/Unix * Strong scripting abilities * Understanding of modern x86 server architecture Strong knowledge of OS and OS-Hardware interaction (firmware, hardware, kernels) **_Desirable Criteria_** * Operating Systems knowledge in Windows * Experience with SAN and NAS solutions, in particular when used with virtualization solutions * Experience with KVM, RHEV, OpenStack and/or vCenter/vSphere 5.x * Experience with distributed storage solutions and file systems would be a plus (e.g. Gluster, ceph, Lustre) * Experience with Linux Containers, cgroups, J2EE solutions, Oracle/MySQL, MongoDB, messaging middleware **_What the press say_** IDG’s Computerworld has selected CME Group as 2013 Best Place to Work in Information Technology honoree for the 9th year in a row **_What our employees say_** I joined CME in October 2012 after spending more than 13 years with my previous employer which was a multinational managed services provider.
