Description
- These are large scale systems being implemented on HPUX platforms using Oracle 11g, 10g, RAC and Data Guard.
We are looking for an experienced Production DBA with a proven track record in supporting and maintaining large scale Oracle systems.
The work involves physical design, implementation, system and software upgrades, monitoring usage and performance, bug fixing, back-up and recovery and change control.
Working hours are flexible but must be on site, 37.5 hours per week. The team also provide 24*7 on call cover on a rota basis and the successful candidate would be expected to join this rota after an initial training period. There will also be some requirements for out of hours working.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
Must have a proven track record in supporting Oracle RDBMS technologies and have exposure to
Installing and Patching Oracle RDBMS
Backup and Recovery (including RMAN)
RAC Cluster technologies
ASM Technologies
Support of RDBMS systems, both at a Production and Development Level
Performance Tuning
Maintaining and Monitoring of the Oracle TechStack
Root Cause Analysis and Fault Fixing techniques
Housekeeping best practices
Unix Shell Scripting
O/S experience
PL/SQL
Coaching/Mentoring others
Desirable Skills

Project Management exposure
‘Whilst the position being offered is Newcastle based there may be a requirement for an amount of initial travel outside of the Newcastle area for knowledge transfer and training. The precise amount of travel required will be discussed at interview.
