Title: Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Supervisor Location: Canada-Saskatchewan-Clavet Job Number: CLA00269 Cargill Grain and Oilseeds Supply Chain's (GOSCNA) 4500 tonne per day canola processing plant in Clavet, Saskatchewan, is the largest softseed plant in North America. The canola crush plant east of Saskatoon, which opened in the mid-1990's, employs approximately 100 people. Saskatchewan accounts for 45 percent of Canadian canola production. The processing facility produces canola oil and specialty canola oils as well as canola meal for the domestic North American and world markets. Canola oil is healthy vegetable oil used in salad oil, frying and processed food applications. Canola meal is a high protein feed product used by the livestock industry. Reporting to theRegional Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor, as the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Supervisor you will be accountable for implementation and maintenance of location laboratory, quality programs, product specifications and other regulatory programs. You must collaborate across departments and between locations to meet business needs. You will also collaborate with QAFS Coordinator on all 3rd party audits and be responsible for selection and development of direct reports. Principal Accountabilities: 25% - Implement all laboratory programs within the location to ensure compliance with company internal requirements, and external, governmental-Canada & USA ,as well as customer requirements and expectations (both domestic and export). 25% - Review inbound materials and ingredients for compliance to specifications. Review exception alerts, and product quality, and proactively communicate with BU FSQR department and facility operations management. Manage and maintain non-conformances, corrective actions, and root cause analysis. 25% - Responsible for talent management including selection, training development, performance management, engagement and manage personal safety of Lab Technicians. 20% - Work with customers as needed by business in coordination with sales and technical service. Submit appropriate quality and food safety reports to facility leaders, BU personnel and customers. Initiate, investigate, and document variances as needed. Qualifications: Required: * Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or any other physical science * Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in Quality, Operations, R&D, Industrial Management or other relevant operations experience * Have experience with data trending; problem solving; continuous improvement; talent management development * Demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems * Ability to work hands-on in a production environment with some climbing, lifting and areas of high noise * Ability to respond to customer and company related issues outside of regular work hours * Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal format * Fluent in Microsoft word/excel Preferred: * 4 years or more experience in Quality, Operations, R&D, Industrial Management or other relevant operations * Project Management experience, Change Management experience, lean-six sigma experience * Experience with Global Food Safety Initiative certification * Talent Management Experience * Demonstrated behaviors consistent with the Cargill leadership model Job: Operations Cargill is an equal opportunity employer.
