Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: February 27, 2014 Departmental Overview The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 250 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking a Cheer Team Head Coach. Responsibilities The Cheer Team Head Coach is responsible for attending all scheduled practices and all home football games. Practices are a minimum of 3 hours 3 times a week, with additional hours during summer and winter break. They will be expected to attend multiple men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball games as well as any non athletic department performances and events as negotiated with the Spirit Groups Coordinator. They will travel to away football games and post season basketball and volleyball games if full time job permits. Responsibilities: • Most squad choreography. • Squad member discipline and status on squad. • Establish goals, agendas, and schedules/timelines for the squad. • Communicate with the Spirit Groups Coordinator on a regular basis (a minimum of once every week). • Coordinate auditions in the spring (usually April). • Facilitate regular meetings with Squad Captains to provide feedback (at least once a month). • Facilitate regular Squad meetings in order to share information with each other and provide feedback to the group. • Run practices including warm-up and cool-down. • Make decisions on Squad attire with input from Spirit Groups Coordinator. • Prepare football travel schedule, Big Game Week schedule, basketball, and volleyball home game rotation with the assistance from the Captains. • Oversee performance music. • Keep routines learned from camp, preferably on DVD. Required Qualifications • Some collegiate coaching experience. • CPR/First Aid certification. • Excellent customer service skills. • Excellent problem solving skills. Preferred Qualifications • 2 years of collegiate coaching experience.
