Job Description Scope: The Sonoma-Cutrer Homeplace Manager plays a key role in the marketing and management of one of the wine industry’s truly iconic brands. They are responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the homeplace experience and strategically align operations with the overall brand business goals and objectives. They have direct responsibility for on-site sales and marketing activity as well as the execution of homeplace programs, events, tours, tasting room operations, CRM and wine club activity. In doing so, they deliver quality performance and adherence to standards while managing their business within financial and budgetary guidelines. Basic Function: In alignment with brand/marketing direction, the Homeplace Manager is responsible for the overall management of Sonoma-Cutrer’s hospitality and CRM activity. Their first priority is to produce a truly memorable brand experience for guests/visitors and trade groups. Responsibilities: Homeplace Operations Management (percent of time: 40%) ß Responsible for exceptional customer service and values. Coach for staff success by communicating event goals, business focus and desired outcomes that achieve excellence in execution. ß Oversee tour plans and tour path as well as tasting room operations with daily supervision. ß Hire, train and manage the collective Homeplace staff. Build effective organizational plans and revise/issue job descriptions as needed. ß Maintain monthly and annual reporting models that keep the management team apprised of financial results as well as the overall activity at the facility. ß Work closely with the Brand and Finance teams to develop annual budgets and capital plans. ß Effectively manage interdepartmental communications and build relationships with all winery departments. ß Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Hospitality team. ß Oversee food service operations for Sonoma-Cutrer including catering for trade, consumer and company events, management & scheduling of staff, menu development, quality & service standards, inventory & budget management, décor, rental coordination, event planning and related activities. jd2">jd2 jd2">ß Manage and proactively plan tasting room inventories and pricing, for wines and merchandise, to meet demand, ensure an exceptional experience and maximize profitability. Place weekly wine orders from warehouse for tasting bar and retail shop. ß Maintain reports and records of tasting room operations, visitation and CRM programs. ß Develop annual merchandising plan to correspond with programming and theme objectives. ß Work with B-F’s digital team to update website, facebook page, etc. with content such as events, wine notes, photography, tourism news, etc. ß Execute short and long-term promotional plans as designed in conjunction with the Marketing team. ß Manage hospitality operation in alignment with the overall property image and brand positioning. Oversight of Club Cutrer and Direct To Consumer (percent of time: 30%) ß In collaboration with the brand team, develop and execute an annual plan for Club Cutrer. o Oversee internal staff focused specifically on Club Cutrer programs, recruitment and o Execute plans, oversee events and manage all shipments of product and information to Club o Maintain a high level of communication, professionalism and friendliness with them. o Establish goals and report performance metrics monthly. ß Execute strategic Direct To Consumer plan (online and tasting room) as directed by brand team, as it relates to sales and relationship marketing activity. o Assist the brand manager in building and tracking performance against DTC sales goals. o Creatively initiate consumer service techniques to grow DTC sales especially through the retention. members. tasting room staff. Homeplace and Local Marketing (percent of time: 20%) ß Develop an annual plan/calendar of local marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with brand positioning. o Develop plan in concert with the brand’s national marketing plan, to maximize impact and o Recommend and coordinate local tourism advertising and tourism promotional/recruitment ß Represent the brand in the community through a variety of interfaces including boards and committees as well as regional and local tourism entities. ß Work with brand PR to support PR initiatives and plans as they pertain to the winery, winemaker and homeplace. o Act as spokesperson for on-site tourism and homeplace interviews/quotes. ß Participate in local events (tastings,etc.) on behalf of winery and brand team, as needed. ß Manage the winery’s participation in key annual events (i.e. Make-A-Wish, Derby Party). ensure consistency. initiatives. jd3">jd3 jd3">Security & Overall Property Oversight (percent of time: 10%) ß Coordinate with Maintenance crew to resolve common issues. Ensure communication and follow-up to achieve and maintain excellent property standards. ß Work closely with security personnel to ensure visitor safety and compliance. ß Provide safe working environment for staff and visitors. ß Ensure ADA, food service and other regulatory compliance on a continuing basis. ß Secure compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations for new activities related to tourism and onsite visitation. ß Play an active role in the development of site master planning and expansion. Must Experience: ¸ Hospitality experience (3-5 years). ¸ Deep project management experience (3-5 years). ¸ Previous management experience (three years) in a collaborative team building and matrix environment. ¸ College degree. ¸ Experience in ideating, developing, implementing and managing complex relationship marketing programs. ¸ Strong oral and written communication skills. ¸ Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external agencies. ¸ Demonstrated strong presentation skills. ¸ Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal staff levels as well as external business partners. ¸ Strong influencing, problem solving and decision making skills. Preferred Experience: ¸ Wine hospitality or beverage alcohol industry experience. ¸ Ten years of event, retail and/or other hospitality management experience. ¸ Previous marketing or PR experience (3-5 years). ¸ Previous DTC and retail sales experience.
