Case Manager and Evaluation Specialist REF#:WC-S-8449-14-02-S Budget Title:Counselor State Professional Position Department:Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) State Line#:45338 Grade:SL-3 Campus:Stony Brook West Campus/HSC Salary:$50, 000 - $59, 000 Required Qualifications:Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related discipline. One year of post-bachelors work experience in a medical or mental health treatment setting involving patient contact. Preferred Qualifications:One year of professional work experience in Student Affairs. Experience working at a quick pace and handling spontaneous work demands while completing projects that require advance planning. Experience maintaining current, accurate documentation and meeting all NY State, federal (HIPAA) regulations, and accreditation in all areas. Database management experience and proficiency in SPSS or related statistical software package. Fluent in Spanish, Korean, Japanese and/or Chinese. Brief Description of Duties:The Case Manager and Evaluation Specialist will systematize the case management, data management, data analysis, and outcome assessment needs associated with the BAC and Mandated AOD programs for student safety and risk management. He/she will also be the designated staff person to communicate with and advocate for students in need of clarification and support in understanding and completing the requirements of the respective programs. The selected candidate will: * Conduct assessment of student case management needs in collaboration with the Behavioral Assessment Committee (BAC), Mandated AOD program, Dean of Students Office, Office of Community Standards, CAPS Triage Department, and Center for Prevention and Outreach. * Manage reports, and associated data management and tracking, of student behaviors of concern, including entry into Campus Counts and communication with relevant staff persons with regard to situations that require immediate response. Consult with other service providers including staff psychiatrists, professionals in Student Health Services, and off-campus treatment providers; consults with other professionals at the university including residence hall staff and faculty; consults with students’ parents/guardians and other family members as needed. * Work directly with students of concern to initiate contact regarding explanation of evaluation processes, scheduling of meetings, and consultation to student and his/her family, when appropriate, in accessing services within SBU system and/or the community at large. * Participate in research, evaluation and ongoing assessment of student safety and risk management programs. * Maintain current and accurate clinical documentation that meets NY State and Federal (HIPAA) standards. * Serves as a resource to the campus community on student safety issues; participate in outreach programs. Special Notes:This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.Night and weekend work is required. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
