Title: Associate Merchant Location: US-TX-Amarillo Job Number: AMA00101 Cargill Animal Nutrition provides customized animal productivity solutions to commercial producers across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. We are currently seeking a Merchant in our Amarillo, TX office with the following key responsibilities. As a Merchant you will handle merchandising and risk management of assigned macro ingredients and overall positions of key assigned ingredients. You will also identify and ensure value capture through the pricing process of all assigned merchandising activities. In addition you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new ingredients, position management reporting, and provide leadership to the World Class criteria. You must be self-motivated and able to make sound decisions with minimal supervision. We are also requiring that you possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with influence. Principal Accountabilities: 70% Merchandising (Macro price sensitive ingredients) * Execute purchases of bulk raw materials for 21 of CAN’s feed facilities in the Southern United States. * Developing and executing gameplans on multiple commodities * Working with business units to provide market price inputs for pricing decisions * Manage ingredient positions relative to contract obligations and merchandising in and out of positions as necessary to capitalize on market moves and improve margins. * Work closely with the logistics team to identify arbitrage opportunities and challenge freight expenses * Work with production facilities to execute proper bin utilization and production capabilities to utilize various ingredients * Articulate and communicate decisively your position and execution plans to the business unit leadership teams. * Communicating closely with other merchants in the Amarillo office to keep abreast of price/supply/demand changes in other relative value co-products. 20% Formulation and demand planning related activities * Using CAN’s formulation technology to develop and execute plans to deliver least cost formulation and manage pipelines * Identifying relative value opportunities that deliver a competitive advantage in each marketplace through the use of alternative ingredients. 10% New ingredient exploration and other merchandising related projects * Explore and capture value through utilization of new ingredients * Challenge constraints/biases on utilization of raw materials Qualifications: Required: * Bachelors degree Good presentation skills. * Attention to detail * Strong organizational skills. * Team player * Experience with Excel and PowerPoint * Strong customer service aptitude * Self-starter Preferred: * 1 year experience in merchandising commodities or logistics.
