Ranked #28 in Top 500 Design Firms in 2012!CDI Marine Company is a division of CDI Government Services and a leader in providing our clients with high quality, cost effective engineering, design and logistics services in the marine industry.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Provide waterfront field engineering/troubleshooting support, and detailed design support for small boats.Assist engineers in basic to advanced designs and revisions, and make preliminary designs according to specifications receiving objectives and technical advice from supervisor or engineers. JOB DESCRIPTION:Provide waterfront support and drafting services to the CDI-Marine project engineer or designer.Familiar with industry drafting and design principles related to marine systems.Develop and prepare schematics from designs made by others and make preliminary designs from rough specifications and/or verbal directions.Correct marked-up drawings and/or sketches to reflect desired conditions or requirements.Perform work with a minimum of supervisory assistance and in compliance with prior engineering determination.Draft sketches and drawings for Liaison Action Records and Boat Alteration Records.Compile and compute a variety of engineering data.Set up project files, lay out drawings and perform drawing file maintenance.Develop 3D models and extraction for 2D drawing development.MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:Associate degree in drafting and design, or the equivalent in specialized training, or equivalent experience in lieu of education and/or specialized training.Proficient in AutoCAD with three (3) to five (5) years of AutoCAD skillsMust be knowledgeable of shipboard systems in general.Have one (1) to five (5) years practical experience using Solidworks or Inventor (3D software) preferred. Submarine design experience a plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 10 lbs.WALKING and CLIMBING.
