Title: Thermal Hydraulics Reload Analysis Engineer II-IV Location: Washington-Richland Looking for an exciting opportunity in the nuclear industry? "Energize" your future with AREVA! This position will: Perform design and safety analyses to support the use of AREVA fuel in boiling water reactors (BWRs). Analyses involve the use of engineering computer codes to perform 1) thermal hydraulic analyses to assess pressure drop and flow distribution in reactor cores, 2) fuel rod thermal analyses to determine heat transfer characteristics, and 3) reactor system analyses of anticipated transients and postulated accidents to demonstrate that licensing requirements are satisfied. Analyses are performed to support reload core design and licensing, assess proposed changes in fuel designs or operating strategies, resolve plant operation issues, or evaluate changes in analytical methods. In addition to performing analyses, the candidate may also be involved with performing code modifications and maintenance to improve the analysis process. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. * BS, MS, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 2-3 years work experience * Course work in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer (two-phase flow course work is desirable) * Experienced with PCs and familiarity with other computer systems (such as HP workstation, UNIX operating system) * Engineer III: BS in Engineering plus 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience. Advanced degree may substitute: MS - 1-2 years; PhD - 1-3 years. * Engineer IV: BS in Engineering plus 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience. Advanced degree may substitute: MS - 1-2 years; PhD - 1-3 years.
