We have an exciting new opportunity for an Editorial Assistant (EA) to join our Higher Education editorial team,
acting in a key role by supporting the commissioning team on all Higher Education products. The EA will support all pre-signing activities, including market research and reviewing, as well as administrative support, digital content support and some selective market development projects. The EA will support two Content Acquisitions Managers and our Head of Content and Digital Product.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking market research using a range of methods (such as online surveys, competitor reviews, course outlines, focus groups) to gather qualitative and quantitative feedback.
* Analyses and presentation of findings for internal and external presentation.
* Responsibility for the development of print and digital products from signed conception to publication for a handful of small titles.
* Reviewing, analysis and feedback during development, ensuring project timelines are adhered to.
* Developing and managing relationships with authors and subject matter experts.
* Editing and analysing submitted material as required, including feedback.
* Briefing cover designs for third-party freelancers.
* Supporting the production editor through the production process.
* Database Management, reporting (Sales Force, SFDC), maintaining the integrity of the data.
* Checking, editing and formatting materials.
* General administrative support to the Higher Education editorial team.

Required Skills
·Previous administrative experience.
·Publishing experience would be a benefit but is not a requirement.
·Ideally, educated to degree level with sound academic background.
·Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to interact effectively with authors, customers and colleagues in the team.
·Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage projects, balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.
·Initiative to solve problems and work independently as required, and flexibility to work as part of a project team.
·Ability and desire to develop good market and product knowledge.
·Competence in core software packages (i.e. Office suite) wold be beneficial.
·Digital competence.
Candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance of Maidenhead, Berkshire.
