(GBR-Home Counties) Senior Component Engineer



Our client is seeking an experienced Components Engineer with maritime experience to work for them in Hertfordshire, offering a very geneours base salary of up to £35,000 per Annum and excellent benefits package.


Job Description


The Senior Engineer Role is demanding and will encompass interfaces to the entire electronics design population plus other functions within our client including Internationally. The role will also encompass improvement activities (process, tools etc.) The role will be suitable for a candidate looking to learn this discipline in greater depth. Training and support will be given to the right candidate with a view to achieving the Principal Engineer grade in the future.


Key Accountabilities



  • Provide component engineering expertise to the design population across the whole range of digital/analogue/RF/passive/electrical/materials/miscellaneous product types

  • Organise and chair component list reviews and work with designers to ensure their selections conform to company policies as well as meeting the technical need

  • Following reactive and proactive procedures to identify component obsolescence.


  • Catalogue components into the company component data base. Candidate Experience and personal attributes




  • Ideally qualified to HNC/HND in Electronics;



  • Some knowledge of component engineering principles;

  • Basic commercial awareness of the electrical/electronic industry;

  • An awareness of current Market trends, roadmaps, product life-cycle and supplier performance;

  • Understanding legislation requirements of RoHS, REACH, ITAR, ECCN, etc.

  • Component packaging technologies, such as PED's, Lead Free, SMD technology (e.g. QFN's, LGA's.)

  • Inherent drive to be part of gaining and spreading knowledge throughout the team to improve its medium/long term capability;

  • Ability to communicate through presentations, verbally and via written reports;
