(GBR-London) Technical Project Manager



Over the next three years our customer will be working to deliver a new and integrated target state systems architecture. Reporting in to the Programme Manager, the Technical Project Manager will lead a project or set of projects to deliver a blend of technology and business processes. The successful candidate will be able to understand, define and articulate the architecture and technology needed to meet the business requirement; be experienced in matrix management of business analysts and technical resources and understand modern technologies, systems and processes; sound judgement, vision, flexibility and great communication are essential along with interpersonal, influencing, analytical , technical and leadership skills.


Duties and Responsibilities to include: Definition and management of activity across the project team Shaping of high-level design and technology required to deliver a business outcome Constructing and delivering plans that bring together technology (both application and infrastructure) with people and process Managing effective communications with the Programme Manager and project stakeholders (including benefits, schedules, priorities and status) Alignment of delivery with other dependencies internal to the project, within the programme and across other parts of the business, particularly working with business analysts, architects, developers and testers to define the business and technical solutions Proactive risk and issue management Flexible and result drive approach to planning


Knowledge and Experience Required: Five years project management experience Demonstrable experience of managing small cross-functional teams (including permanent and third party staff) Demonstrable experience in design/architecture or integration management of complex application and infrastructure architectures Experienced in AGILE delivery methodologies Demonstrable experience at overcoming barriers to delivery Experience of working with other relevant government departments First degree or postgraduate qualification MSP, APM or Prince Practitioner


General competencies: Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience at operating with a high level of autonomy Excellent knowledge of product lifecycle, tools and processes Able to objectively assess solutions to meet business demand, striking the right balance of people, technology and process where required Ability to manage many small, independent work packages across multiple systems


The ideal candidate will have current DV security clearance (though non cleared candidates who are prepared to go through DV clearance may be considered).
