**JOB**** TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer (Manufacturing/Assembly)** **DEPARTMENT: **Engineering **RESPONSIBLE TO: **Engineering Manager **HOURS: **37.5 hours per week. Hours of work will be 8:30am – 5:15pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 1:00pm Friday. The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post. **LOCATION: **B/E Aerospace (UK) Ltd 2 Moor Road Kilkeel Co Down BT34 4NG # **_JOB__ PURPOSE_** To work with the Design and Manufacturing Teams to ensure a manufacturing solution is delivered which meets and exceeds cost, quality and schedule requirements. **_PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES_** * Lead new programs / products through the Engineering Gate Processes to ensure on cost, on time & to specification. This includes Design Reviews, Drawing Reviews, BOM verification and Risk and Mitigation management. * Liaison between manufacturing and design. * Challenge both manufacturing and business processes. * Vendor support on manufacturing / design queries. * Establish recurring and non recurring costs. * From lessons learnt drive design for manufacture and assembly. * Define production line and workstation layout * Identify all tools and fixtures required to manufacture the product to the specifications and tolerances required. * Outline standard work. * Ensure a safe working environment is set and maintained. * Initiate and lead problem solving techniques. * Demonstrate that the manufacturing process selection has delivered in terms of costs, quality and cycle times. * Identify, assess feasibility and manage change for both continuous improvements and mandatory requirements. * Any other duties as required to support business needs. **_THE PERSON_** **Key Attributes:** * **Job Knowledge:** Has the job knowledge and technical skills to understand his/her duties and responsibilities. * **Continuous Improvement:** Constantly measures for the effectiveness of processes and strives to meet more difficult objectives. Manages time well and effectively, including personal attendance and on-time performance. **_ESSENTIAL CRITERIA_** * Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline and relevant engineering experience gained in a manufacturing environment OR * A third level qualification, such as HNC/HND, in a relevant engineering discipline and 3+ years relevant engineering experience gained in a manufacturing environment **_DESIRABLE CRITERIA_** * 2 + years experience in a comparable engineering role * Relevant experience in implementing the principles of Lean Manufacturing * Working knowledge in an assembly environment * Experience of Aerospace procedures and regulations * Familiarity with the use of CAD systems **THE CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF ONLINE APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2014 AT MIDNIGHT.**
