24/7 Live Operational support for Application Support of VME applications. This is a technical role reporting to a shift lead assisting providing operational support, incident investigation and some problem analysis.
Job Description:
Working with a Shift Lead and reporting to the AS Live Operations Lead, this role operates as part of a small 24/7 shift team providing application support across all VME supported applications.
As a member of a shift team and working closely with the shift leader, this role will require daytime, evening and weekend cover as required by the shift schedule. The role requires close working with other AMS teams, as well as Hosting/ITO areas, SIAM and some customer interactions.
The role is primarily to support the live services, to ensure batches run through successfully, payments are made correctly and on time and services are available for use by end users each morning.
The ideal candidate will have some current or recent knowledge of VME and preferably knowledge of some of the key VME systems supported – e.g. PSCS/INCAP, ISCS, JSAPS/ESA, DLA/AA etc. Some knowledge of COBOL and SCL would also be beneficial. Training may be available.
This role at Entrant level 1 is a key position within the AMS group and would require an individual who can work on their own initiative as well as effectively as part of a team. The role requires a good communicator, adaptable to changing work priorities and technically adept to fulfil the requirements of the role.
The job is based in Newcastle.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive, self-starting nature with a ‘can do’ attitude. This is a shift role working as part of a small team that may demand some flexibility to ensure adequate cover if provided.
Whilst the position being offered is Newcastle based there may be a requirement for an amount of initial travel outside of the Newcastle area for knowledge transfer and training. The precise amount of travel required will be discussed at interview
