## Description **Role Title:** Systems Engineering Intern **Job Band:** B1 **Job Family:** Technical College Intern **Salary:** 16,000 GBP **Overall Purpose:** Rockwell Collins is an internationally renowned supplier of high technology aviation electronic and communication equipment to customers around the world. The role is based at Rockwell Collins UK headquarters in Reading, Berkshire which specialises in: * Military targeting * Military communications * Satellite navigation * Commercial Airline Information Management Over the course of the internship the successful candidate will participate in projects within these areas on a variety of Systems Engineering activities: ## Qualifications **Key Competencies:** **Ownership:** Be self-motivated and use own initiative to take full responsibility for meeting personal commitments. Challenge assumptions and strive to find own solutions in discussion with other engineers. **Analysis:** Demonstrate the ability to provide a logical, in-depth analysis of a problem or situation. **Cooperation:** Take personal initiative to proactively serve as team member. **Dependability:** Ensure that all details of a project are accurate before handing over to others. **Drive:** Display energy, persistence, and a positive attitude when working on all projects. **Judgment:** Base decisions on factual information and consider alternative courses of action before reaching decisions. **Listening:** Consistently practice attentive and active listening and can accurately restate the opinions of others. **Relationships:** Develop relationships with others that are based on trust. **Writing:** Produce technical design documents, reports and proposals that are clearly and concisely written. **Key Qualifications and Experience:** * Grade A or B in GCSE English * Studying for a degree inin a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject ; You will have completed Degree modules in the following key areas; Systems Design Engineering Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling / Tools Electronic Circuit and Firmware development Electromagnetic Wave Propagation (RF and Microwave) Software Languages, programming tools and techniques Digital and Analogue signal processing Communication systems Industry-standard interfaces and network communications protocols Simulation environments * Demonstrate enthusiasm about modern defence technologies * Exhibit excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing. * Have an understanding and some practical experience of using Systems Engineering software tools * Have an understanding and some practical experience of using electronic hardware test equipment * Demonstrate an aptitude for learning new tools and techniques * To be successful you will need to demonstrate the ability to work with combinations of technologies and to understand how to integrate them in a logical and structured way into a system that will fully satisfy a Customers requirement * Knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle * Familiarity with information technology * Ability to gain UK security clearance *Job:* Technical Intern *Primary Location:* ENG-RCUK-Reading, England *Organization:* European Engineering 1 *Schedule:* Full-time *Req ID:* ENG000000JM
