*Job Band: E4 *


*Job Family: Senior Systems Engineer *


Salary Range: £50000 - £65000 per annum


Location: This position is based in Reading, UK(there is no relocation package available for this role)

**Please note this position requires SC clearance or ability to obtain this.


Overall Purpose:


Rockwell Collins is a renowned supplier of Military Targeting and Communications systems. The primary responsibility of this post is to provide technical leadership for developing vehicle system architectures for the next generation of Joint Fires System solutions. The engineering development teams will be composed of system, hardware and software engineers, in different geographical locations.


The scope of work for the role ranges from supporting Business Development activity through to delivery of operational capability.


The ideal candidate will have experience of linking up Electronic Sub-Systems mounted on military Land Vehicles and have an understanding of relevant military standards.


Key Accountabilities:




  • Design Responsibility: Take overall responsibility for design of vehicle systems




  • Commercial Responsibility: Ensuring quality and on-time delivery within budget.




  • Professional Conduct: Conduct oneself in a professional manner and in accordance with Rockwell Collins Values




Authority:




  • Take direction from System of System Architect on the context for the vehicle system design




  • Take direction from Technical Project Manager on the budget and timescale constraints




  • Responsible to engineering line management professional conduct

Qualifications

Key Qualifications and Experience:




ü Degree qualified or equivalent calibre in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering - MUST


ü Experience of leading design effort for software based systems on board military vehicles, which have been successfully transferred to operational use - MUST


ü Ability to achieve UK MoD security clearance - MUST


ü Be able to coach and assist other engineers in vehicle system architectural design - MUST


ü Have knowledge and interpretation of relevant compliance standards - MUST


ü Experience of conducting design reviews for vehicle system & sub-systems - MUST


ü Able to coherently develop a clear vision for technical solutions based upon disparate stakeholder input and communicate it in such a way as to achieve maximum buy-in from the team - MUST


ü Applied working knowledge of EMC/TEMPEST design practices, analogue and digital design, and electrical / electronic principles when applied to military vehicles - MUST


ü Applied working knowledge of high-speed data communication design and interface standards commonly in use within military vehicles - MUST


ü Familiar with, and capable of specifying components and sub-systems for supply by third parties - MUST


ü Experience in the review and delivery of documentation required for the development of the electrical & electronic aspects of the platform Electronic Architecture and vehicle systems - MUST


ü Experience in developing solutions that optimise the cost of design, ease of manufacture and systems integration of electrical / electronic aspects of the Electronic Architecture and Vehicle Systems


ü Experience of ensuring the design integrity of electrical & electronic design solutions including safety - MUST


ü Experience specifying, implementing and documenting vehicle based electrical & electronic design solutions into bid activities - MUST


ü Proven technical experience in a range of Systems Engineering Tools (DOORS, MODAF, SysML) - MUST


ü Proven ability to perform structured trade studies and decision making – MUST


Experience of working with Middle Eastern customers - DESIRABLE
