(USA-MD-Baltimore) Phone Support Engineer - Lab Automation
**_JOB SUMMARY: _** Provide customer support service on the operation, installation and repair of diagnostic instrumentation produced and sold by BD Diagnostic Systems (BDDS). Service includes telephone technical support, on-site visits and customer training as well as training of other service personnel and repairs performed on instrumentation located at BDDS facilities. Engineers will be expected to be committed to GMP, ISO, and Quality Standards. **_DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:_** * Respond to customer telephone inquiries by providing diagnostic and other assistance on specific products supported and serviced by BD. * Provide follow-up service by calling customers who have recently had service interactions. * Provide general helpdesk support, as well as software and hardware maintenance. * Perform customer service activities as required. * Perform all duties related to tracking and management of Information Technology (IT) equipment and assets. * Monitor and review daily logs of all servers. * Provide service at customer sites and BD facilities when required. * Assist with customer training. * Be a participating member, representing the Service Engineering group, in project teams. * Coordinate, plan and organize, the actions required across departments, cross regional, to resolve customer issues. * Complete service documentation as required. * Display maturity and judgment in time management and expense control. Report quality control and other technical problems in detail. * Interface and work closely with System Support Specialists as required. * Train other service engineers and biomedical technicians on theory of operation, repair, calibration and testing of specific BD products, instrumentation and software. * High School diploma/GED required. * Minimum of two years’ experience in IT specifically, demonstrated knowledge of installation and support of Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (2000, XP and 7) required or in a related field. Associate's or technical Degree is preferred. * Two years of service experience in the troubleshooting and repair of IT and electronic systems required. * Requires a good working knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical devices (Megatronics), PLCs and pneumatics. * Knowledge of PC/software/LIS/networking/database management knowledge is highly desired. * Overnight travel required both domestically and internationally up to 80% * Working knowledge and experience of networking set up and troubleshooting. * Experience with PC assembly, upgrades and repairs are highly desirable. * Experience with medical devices and equipment. * Must be able and willing to be on-call and assist with emergencies or scheduled system maintenance after hours as required. * Must have effective communication and customer service skills including technical writing and training. * Working knowledge and practical experience of basic test equipment. * Industry experience, preferably in the healthcare, or Laboratory industry is a plus. * Microsoft Certification strongly preferred. * Helpdesk call center experience providing telephonic user support preferred. * Ability to speak languages in addition to English is preferable. PHYSICAL QUALLIFICATIONS * Must be able to lift up to 30lbs frequently and up to 70lbs infrequently * Must be able to handle bending and stooping over a prolong period of time (up to 10 hours). * Must be able to handle prolong standing (up to 10 hours per day). * Must be able to push/pull materials up to 100lbs. * Must wear all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required by company guidelines. *Job:* Technical / Field Service *Primary Location:* US-Maryland-Baltimore *Shift:* First Shift / Day Job *Req ID:* TEC100OT
