(USA-MI-Detroit) Manager Sales and Mkting
*Description/Job Summary* Markets and sells the company''s treatment and disposal services to clients and prospective clients by performing the following duties in an assigned sales territory. * ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Develop and secure new profitable business for the company in an assigned territory. * Study markets and develop strategies for growing revenues in geographic markets and / or specific service lines. * Contact existing customers on a routine basis to ensure account retention. This includes personal customer visits, telephone, e-mail and written communication. * Work closely with customer service reps to ensure information requests, proposals and customer responses are timely and of high quality * Complete required sales reports, itineraries, target account tracking and other as directed by the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. * Assist in collection of receivables if accounts are delinquent. * Prepare price quotations and proposals. * Coordinate closely with site and corporate management to develop effective strategies for closing large prospect opportunities. * Develop and make recommendations to sales management regarding pricing strategies. * Execute approved business development plans for assigned sales territory * Increase business revenue and profitability for the company by meeting established sales goals. * Performs other, related duties as assigned.* These are duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class of work. * Supervisory Responsibilities:* This position supervises lower level Sales Representatives. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization''s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. * JOB LEVELS* * One Level * SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA)* To perform the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee must be assertive and ambitious with demonstrated drive and initiative for business advancement; be competitive, with a strong desire to serve customers by focusing efforts on meeting the client’s needs, understanding their concerns, and seeking to build trust. Must be energetic, persuasive, persistent, posses good negotiation skills and be goal oriented. Make sound decisions by evaluating information and projects profitability to achieve desired outcomes. * * Education and/or Experience* Bachelor''s degree from four-year College or university in business or related science and/or combination of advanced training in waste management plus 7-10 years experience in sales and customer service. Good knowledge of regulations specific to the Waste Industry. * Certificates/Licenses/Registrations* None * * Language Skills* Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, regulatory agencies and/or board of directors. * * Mathematical Skills* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. * * Reasoning Ability* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
