Position Overview The BU Automation PDG Leader is responsible to lead a team or work alone to execute divisional Automation, Electrical or Instrumentation (AEI) projects and/or AEI functions within larger projects. Work involves more complicated control strategies, Process Development Group (PDG) tasks and innovative solutions. * Developing and managing the design, installation, and operational specification standards for automation & instrumentation processes & systems against corporate standards. * Must be fluent in all three areas of control: automation, electrical and instrumentation. Automation & control system expertise will be the primary focus for this role. * Implementation of new systems that improve efficiency & effectiveness of process control loops. * Creation and maintenance of corporate engineering standards. * Managing/advising on development of new processes/tools. * Creation of innovative solutions for process improvements that can be utilized within Corn Milling. * Assisting PDG or functional leader in long-term planning and team organization. * Lead and/or support automation strategy development & defect elimination activities throughout the business unit. This position may be located at any corn wet milling facility or Minneapolis. Principal Accountabilities 30% Lead automation and/or instrumentation best practice activities across the business unit. This includes identifying best practices and opportunities where they can be applied. 25% Manage/review periodic performance information and compile reports to share across the enterprise to drive improvement. Evaluate and use this data to make decisions.. 25% Provide support for automation activities to facilities and functional managers. 10% Utilize corporate project management tools for communications and tracking progress. 10% Utilize corporate task management tools to provide a systematic approach for the management of tasks related to the process or discipline of expertise. Qualifications: Required * BS Technical or Eng degree technical degree OR Associates technical degree plus 3 yrs AEI experience OR 5 years AEI experience * In addition to above, 5 years AEI experience * Specific knowledge in automation systems & processes. * Project management skills and the ability to work within and improve upon processes/systems. * High level of organization, communication and documentation skills. * Must have an understanding of continuous and batch process control strategies. * Must obtain a working understanding of the corn milling process. * Must be able to configure and program a variety of control systems including DCS, PLC and HMI systems. * Knowledge of IEC 61131 and other proprietary programming languages. * Must be able to update and troubleshoot a range of electrical or instrumentation systems. * Ability to read and update electrical schematics. * Design and implementation knowledge of plant digital business technologies. * Good communications and organizational skills. * Work well in an team or individual environement and be a self starter. Preferred * Automation, Electrical, and / or Instrumentation experience. Emerson AMS & DeltaV programs/AB. * Knowledge of predictive technologies (MCE, vibration, infrared, ultrasound, machinery lubrication). * Experience with corn milling equipment and processes. * CAP Certification through ISA IND123 Job: Maintenance and Reliability Cargill is an EEO/AA employer.
