(USA-TX-Robstown) Technician Health Safety
*Description/Job Summary* Job Title: Health and Safety Technician Department: Operations Reports To: Manager - Field Operations/Health & Safety FLSA Status: Non-Exempt EEO Job Group: 03 - Technicians USE Job Code: 005 – Technical Support Location: Robstown, TX SUMMARY Under the supervision of the H&S Manager administers the health and safety programs in compliance with occupational safety and health regulations by performing the following duties. * Responsibilities/Duties* • Inspects facility to identify existing or potential physical and health hazards, and to ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe manner, according to company, industry, and regulatory standards. • Inspects machines, equipment, and other devices for accident prevention. • Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as safety glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, and proper clothing. • Develops training programs to train employees in H&S matters. • Inspects specified areas for placement of fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies. • Tests working areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards. • Prepares reports of finding with recommendations for corrective action. • Compiles and submits reports required by regulatory agencies and company management. • Investigates accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program. • Works with employees to obtain compliance with procedures, rules and regulations. • Updates manuals and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness. • Orders and distributes safety and supplies. Maintains stock of these materials on hand. • Maintains a health and safety library and training resources on site. • Demonstrates the use of safety equipment. • Assists in the selection of safety committees and participates in meeting as required. • Performs other, related duties as assigned. HEALTH AND SAFETY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES While performing this job, the employee is responsible for continuous adherence to the Company’s Health & Safety Program. This includes: the health and safety of themselves and their coworkers, completing tasks in a safe manner, attending safety meetings and mandatory H&S training, and reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or unanticipated hazards to their Supervisor, General Manager or Health and Safety Specialist. Duties and responsbilities are detailed in the H&S Program Master Document and will be provided by the H&S Specialist and/or the direct supervisor during new-hire orientation, training sessions or upon request. ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY COMPLIANCE To comply with applicable regulations, the H&S Technician is required to complete the hazardous training program as established in the Company’s Environmental Compliance Plan. A copy of the training sessions is available upon request. * Required Skills* Language Skills • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
