JOB SUMMARY: Provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. Also performs cardiovascular procedures including but not limited to monitoring of diagnostic and intervention procedures. Follows all established organization and department policies, procedures, objectives and quality assessment. Responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe working environment throughout the organization by adhering to all safety management policies and procedures which reflect the mission and philosophy of the Ascension Health System. Attends all mandatory in-service programs and maintains professional and education requirements. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program EDUCATION PREFERRED: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIRED Valid IN RCP license by date of hire into position CRT ¿ Certified Respiratory Technician - within 6 months after hire into this position BLS within 6 months after hire into this position (for SVR must have at hire) ACLS within one year after hire into this position (for SVR must have within 3 months) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certifications must be secured within 3 months of hire to position. REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE PREFERRED Registered with the National Board of Respiratory Care (RRT) PALS NRP EXPERIENCE REQUIRED None EXPERIENCE PREFERRED One year experience working in a Respiratory Therapy role SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Knowledgeable regarding the practice of respiratory care and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all modalities and procedures. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES PREFERRED Basic and advanced respiratory skills for patient population of all ages. Excellent clinical leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem identification and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to keep current with trends in general respiratory services. Ability to prioritize time and to work independently.
