JOB SUMMARY This position provides direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The registered nurse reports to the director or manager assigned on his/her unit. Follows all established organization and department policies, procedures, objectives and quality assessment. Responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe working environment throughout the organization by adhering to all safety management policies and procedures which reflect the mission and philosophy of the Ascension Health System. Attends all mandatory in-service programs and maintains professional and education requirements. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED Associates Degree in Nursing EDUCATION PREFERRED Bachelors degree in Nursing REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIRED Valid license in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse obtained by date hiring into this position Basic Life Support BLS certification within six months of entering this position REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE PREFERRED Additional certifications for specialty care units (ACLS, PALS, CCRN, etc.) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED None EXPERIENCE PREFERRED One year experience working as a Registered Nurse in clinical area requested SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient Must possess the ability to assess patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care as described in the department¿s policies and procedures SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES PREFERRED None WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances Occasional emergency/crisis situations Occasional irregular hours May be exposed to toxic chemicals PHYSICAL DEMANDS Extensive standing/walking Lifts, positions, pushes, transfers patients up to 50 pounds Lifts supplies and equipment Closing Statement As an equal opportunity employer, St.Vincent Health and all its ministries comply with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
