Job Location Raleigh, NC Job Description **Summary of Position Responsibilities:** * Troubleshoot; ensure database availability and stability; performance tuning and optimization; participate in application development deployments; and assists in development lifecycle **Primary Responsibilities:** * Manages and maintains data in all production and non-production MSSQL and the associated DR and replication servers * Manages the maintenance of DB environments including backups, healthchecks, applying fixpacks, monitoring, capacity management, and upgrading * Participates in disaster recovery exercises * Performs performance tuning by analyzing database and OS performance and implementing tuning and optimization recommendations * Manages the upgrades and installs of DBMS, replication software * Manages the design and distribution, performance, replication, security, availability including High availability solutions and access requirements for large complex databases * Designs and develops physical layers of various databases making use of advanced features such as partitioning * Handles testing, reporting, back-up and restores * On-Call coverage required **Required Experience: ** * 1+ years of experience in database and database internals * Experience in MSSQL 2005, 2008, 2012, replication, mirroring, high availability solutions like windows clustering, Working knowledge of technologies impacting database solutions including storage and replication * Experience in supporting a large portfolio * 1+ years of experience in Windows Operating system * 1+ years knowledge of Scripting in Perl and shell(C/Korn), Windows scripting, Powershell ** ** **Preferred Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems or related field, or 1-3 yrs work experience * DBMS Certification * Experience in Mongo database or Sybase v 12 and v15 or Informix * Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts ** ** **Travel: 5%** ADP or equivalent certification preferred, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
